During the 2012-2013 Barclays Premier League season, Chelsea footballer and ex-England captain John Terry was paid a staggering £172,000 per week.
The disgraced Terry – found guilty by the Football Association of racially abusing Queens Park Rangers Anton Ferdinand was fined just £220,000 for his racial outburst. This was the equivalent of 9 days wages for him.
