What is a Metosat?

A Meteosat is a satellite that provides an accurate degree of the weather conditions from images taken every 15 minutes  over Africa and Europe.

It’s in it’s second generation and alllows meteorologists to monitor the various weather conditions such as cloud, land, sea and snow as they develop.

More than 50 British science and industry partners have been involved in Meteosat.  The UK government invested about £6million and the Met Office contributed £89 into the project.
