At one time or another we’ve all probably had head lice, especially during our childhood.
But I’m afraid it is not true that head lice prefer clean hair.
They are small brownish coloured insects that feed on the blood on the human scalp. They pass from head to head by coming into contact with an infected persons hair, the head lice can’t jump or fly.
They spend their whole lives – which is about a month, on a human head, laying their eggs glued to the base of the hair, which is why it’s so hard to get rid of them.
So it has nothing to do with poor hygiene or the fact that your hair is clean, as head lice are just not that fussy, they just need your scalp to survive and lay their eggs.
