What is the name of the red skin on a turkey’s beak?

The red fleshy growth from the base of a turkey’s beak that hangs down over the beak is officially called a “wattle”, but it can also been known as a “snood”.

A snood was a net like bag back in the 1930’s that held back a woman’s hair at the base of her neck and these became very popular whilst woman worked in factories to prevent their hair being caught in the machinery.

There is a definite resemblance to a turkey’s “snood” and the net like bag apart from the colour!
