What was unique about President Franklin Roosevelt?

Franklin Roosevelt won the American Presidential elections four times running and so master minded the United States domestic and foreign activities for the best part of a generation from 1933 to 1945.

He suffered and was greatly disabled by poliomyelitis, which left him confined to a wheelchair on occasions.

He gave the American people their national pride and their will to justify the belief that they were the greatest people in the world.  He did this by dealing effectively with the mess that followed the Great Depression of the late 1920’s.

When the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbour in 1941 he led the American people into total war against Japan and he also joined with the British and their allies against Germany and Italy.
