Who is the longest reigning monarch?

The history of the longest reigning monarch at present was Queen Victoria’s reign for 63 years, 216 days. She became Queen on 20th June 1837 upto her death on 22nd January 1901.

However, if our current monarch, Queen Elizabeth II continues her reign, after the 9th September 2015, this will mark the day that she becomes the longest-reigning monarch in British history to date.

She will surpass the record held for more than a century by her great-great-grandmother.

Queen Elizabeth II will become the longest reigning monarch of forty-one kings and queens who have ruled over Great Britain since the Norman Conquest which is certainly an unquestionably historical achievement.

Queen Elizabeth II will celebrate her 90th Birthday next April.
