Who was Andromeda?

Andromeda was the daughter of the King of Ethiopia, one day her mother the Queen said that she believed her daughter to be more beautiful than the Nereids, who were the nymphs of the Mediterranean Sea.

Because of this, Andromdea was condemned by the god of sea, Neptune and in his anger he created a huge sea monster to devour Andromeda, whilst she was tied to some rocks.

But she was saved at the last moment by Perseus, who was the legendary founder of Mycenae and the Perseid dynasty of Danaans. He was one of the greatest Greek hero and slayer of monsters before the days of Hercules.

Perseus went on to marry Andromeda and settled in Tiryns and they became the parents of seven sons and one daughter.
