Who was the first person to conquer Mount Everest?

The name of the man that first reached the summit of Mount Everest, was Sir Edmund Hillary.

The New Zealand mountaineer, reached the top accompanied by the Nepalese Sherpa Tenzing in June 1953.

He also went to the South Pole in 1958 on Sir Vincent’s Fuch overland expedition and was the first person to reach the South Pole by land since Scott in 1912.
