Who was the Little Giant?

That would be – Isambard Kingdom Brunel, who was the greatest engineering genius of modern times.

He built railway systems, bridges, tunnels, steamships (one of which was the biggest vessel afloat for a generation named the Great Eastern).   He also built portable hospitals for troops in the Crimea, a model housing estate, docks and harbours but to name a few!

Although Brunel was a short man, he had immense courage and endurance and he made his staff and employees work very hard but no one worked harder than himself.

He had a specially built carriage fitted out in the style of an architects drawing office.  He risked his life on many occasions on big projects to save those of others.
