It is said that the sunniest place on earth in the North African Sahara desert. It once had 4,300 hours of sunshine in a year.
The people who live there are known as the Tuareg Arabs and they cover their skin by wearing headdresses in order to protect the skin and eyes from the sun and sand.
However, the hottest place is Al Aziziyah in Libya, which warms up to 58oC in the shade – hot enough to fry an egg!
