It is said that the sunniest place on earth is the North African Sahara desert. It once had 4,300 hours of sunshine in a year.
The people who live there are known as the Tuareg Arabs and they cover their skin by wearing headdresses in order to protect the skin and eyes from the sun and sand.
However, the hottest place on earth is Al Aziziyah in Libya, which warms up to 58 degrees Celsius in the shade – hot enough to fry an egg!
