Recycling

There are many ways for us to help our environment,  listed here are a few facts to help us along the way.

If you recycle a ton of paper you can save, 17 mature trees, 26,500 litres of water, 2.5 cubic metres of landfill space, 2 barrels of oil and 4,000 kilowatt hours of electricity – enough energy to power the average American home for 5 months.

Approximately 88% of energy is saved when plastic is made from recycled plastic.

Recycle one aluminium can and it can save enough energy to run a 100-watt light bulb for 20 hours, a computer for 3 hours and a TV for 2 hours.

Over 73% of newspapers are recovered form recycling. About 33% of this is used to make newsprint; the rest is used to make paperboard, tissue or insulation.

Turning off the tap while brushing your teeth twice a day can save up to 30 litres of water. That’s nearly 11,000 litres a year.
