When did they stop executing people in the Tower of London

Tower of LondonAs recently as 1941! On Thursday, 14th August 1941, Josef Jakobs, a German spy was shot by an eight-man firing squad. Because Jakobs had broken his ankle when parachuting into England some seven months earlier, he was unable to stand before the firing squad, so he was seated in a chair instead and tied up before being shot five time in the heart.
